Confined space safety harnesses are equipped with one D-ring on the upper back and two D-rings on the shoulder strap. These harnesses are specifically designed for lowering or raising workers into or out of confined spaces like manholes. The shoulder D-rings serve as additional connection points that may be easier to access in case the worker faints or falls and needs to be extracted. The back D-ring is used to attach a self-retracting lifeline or shock-absorbing lanyard, which in turn connects to a secure anchor point.
